The good news is that most of these problems can be solved with simple steps in advance. This guide explains what really happens to the account after death, what needs to be monitored, and how to secure the family to avoid panic.
First, Understand One Thing: The Type of Account Matters
Whether a loved one can access the money primarily depends on what type of account it was.

Deceased's Individual Account - Blocked Until Inheritance
After reporting the death, the bank blocks the deceased's individual account. To access it, heirs must present one of the documents confirming their inheritance rights:
- a final court ruling confirming the acquisition of inheritance, or
- a registered certificate of inheritance (prepared by a notary).
